History of Tudor House

There has been a dental surgery on this site for at least 80 years. The name of those dentists who practiced here have been lost in mists of time, but some of the more recent names can still be recalled by our older patients.

In the 1960’s, 1970’s and the 80’s there were two independent surgeries on this site. One owned and run by Mr M Major, the other by Mr Malcolm Gilespy-Smith. Each surgery shared the same waiting room. It is hard to believe it now, but in those days everything was done in one small room. Appointments made, all treatment completed, X-rays taken and developed, and all instruments sterilised.

When Mr Major retired, his practice was taken over by Mrs F Holford and a short while after this Mr Gillespy-Smith also retired. At this time both those separate surgeries were united by the one new owner Mr David Guttery, who began the task of modernising the new united surgeries. Nowadays we have separate reception area, all X-rays are digital and all sterilisation is done in a dedicated decontamination room.

Twenty two years later Tudor House Dental Practice has been passed into the care of Dr Urszula Tokajuk.
